On October 7th 2017 a Culinary festival took place in Pomorie.

The event attracted a lot of attention and interest form the local population and guests of the city.

Outdoors, under the tents, on the very square in the city center, 15 culinary specialists and participants in the Culinary Contest presented their dishes. The guests and the representatives of our Turkish partner hat the chance to taste the StrandzhaZelnik, Black Sea fishes, the bread of spelled, the Krushen bulgur and other Bulgarian local dishes. The Turkish representatives were very interested in the delicious specialties. They presented the typical peasant bread and other pastries, ashure (specifically for this season), the peyirirhalvasi and other interesting and specific dishes for the Edirne region.

Mayor, Mr. Ivan Alexiev made a personal greeting to the whole initiative, stressing that such kind of activities are particularly important for each town. The festival presented the project, the cookbook, the cross-border tourist map, the culinary routes in the two partner regions. On the same day, several tour operators expressed interested for personal meetings and additional information about the cross-border routes and the contacts made in the Strandzha and StaraPlanina villages.

Particular interest arose the cookbook, which was distributed by lottery.

The authentic folklore group from the village of Kozichino – the Erkeskagrandies with their bagpiper were a wonderful accent and quickly caught everyone in a beautiful Bulgarian horo.The actor from the Bourgas Drama Theater – Tony Minsantan, was the host of the festival.

The media coverage particularly supported the promotion of the event.
